Some people mark time by birthdays, holidays, or seasons. But if you're in grad school like me, time is measured by one haunting number: 11:59 pm—the universal deadline that looms over every assignment, week after week.
This poem is a snapshot of that all too familiar feeling: juggling life, work and school while racing the clock. It's a little funny, all the way real, and hopefully a reminder to not to procrastinate. Please comment with your feedback!
11:59
Well, today is Sunday. After I finish Church online, guess what is dominating my mind? It should be the sermon and how it is going to change life for the better but noooooo it’s the fact that I have an assignment due at 11:59 pm.

Well, if it’s not Sunday when your homework is due, it could be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday (singing Alexander O’Neal and Cherelle Saturday Love as I write this). I know one thing is true – it’s the time. 11:59 pm that most professors assign.
See I have been working on my second Master’s for the last year. 11:59 pm is all I have been hearing in my ears.
When I ask, when is that assignment due, my fellow classmates look at me and say 11:59 pm, what’s wrong with you!
Whewwww, it’s 11:58 pm, finally finish and then hit submit. I beat that deadline of 11:59 pm!
Moral of the Story
Stop waiting to the last minute talking about you got it in before 11:59 pm. Do a little each day and before you know it you will be finished before the due date and time.
Masterfully written poem to capture the Grad school experience! Thank you and God bless you, Nicole
