Do You Have My Next Role?

Let's chat about it.
Let's chat about it.

Come January 2025, my LinkedIn profile will proudly showcase the iconic green “Open to Work” badge! I’m thrilled to re-enter the workforce and bring my enhanced skills in instructional design and learning sciences to drive transformative changes in workforce training.

Characteristics of my next role

  • Emerging technologies: I am a technologist at heart. I spent many years on the bleeding edge of tech and helping companies create innovative and transformative solutions. As the UNC-Chapel Hill Libraries Graduate Assistant for GenAI Services, I have been working on the leadership roadmap team to drive GenAI adoption. Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio have been the main tools I have been using. I also have been gaining knowledge with Microsoft Mesh and Meta Horizon. Of course, I have been keeping up with AWS AI solutions. I believe workforce learning platforms will be anchored in Cloud, AI, Blockchain, and the Metaverse.

  • Leadership: I want to continue to grow people. I believe that leaders lead people and manage processes and resources. I am a leader who cultivates and empowers future leaders. I want to lead a team of people who are passionate about emerging tech and how it can be utilized to revolutionize workforce training. I utilize the Servant-Leadership style to foster a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages personal and professional development within the team.

  • Diverse Culture: I believe diversity is one of the competitive advantages of companies. This is one of the reasons I stayed at IBM for 21 years. I am a product of one of IBM’s diversity programs- Project View. Diversity is inclusive of race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, age, sexual orientation, cultural background, differently abled, socioeconomic status, education, and experience. I would also like to see that in the customers as well.

It takes a team!
It takes a team!
  • International Travel: I had a taste of international travel when I worked at IBM. I also did a lot of domestic travel. I would love for there to be some travel- international and domestic travel in my next role.

Where am I flying to next?

  • More incorporation of the Learning Sciences: I want us to move beyond instructionism to creating workforce training that reflects Project-Based Learning (PBL), Scaffolding, Guided Improvisation, and Situated Learning. Let’s utilize the Metaverse as our creative classroom.

  • FUN, FUN, FUN! Wherever I work I look for the element of fun! I believe we have to bring back the play in work (I wrote another blog on this. Check it out when you have the opportunity). A “High-performing” culture should NOT equate to unrealistic productivity targets. Working on the weekends should be the EXCEPTION and NOT the rule! I want to be able to experiment with ideas and let my creativity flow. I want to fail, learn from it, and iterate. I want to celebrate with each other!

Good times to be had!
